Funny Stuff Care of My Dad:
The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Here are this year's winners:
1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.
4. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.
5. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.
6. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.
7. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.
8. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
9. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.
10. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)
11. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.
12. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
13. Glibido: All talk and no action.
14. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
15. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

Passover, 50 Cent Style: Very funny site with a Pesach greeting from 50 Cent. He he he!
Major Scientific Breakthrough: Scientists say they now know why some popcorn kernels resist popping into puffy white globes. To learn more, visit: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/science/04/21/popcorn.secret.ap/index.html
So, That's What the World Looks Like at 4 a.m.: Yup, you read right...I was up at 4 today, obsessing (aka planning) for my Women's Leadership Conference. A full page of notes resulted. We'll see what time I crash though...I'm going home for Passover today.

Here We Go Again: I can't believe I am posting this on my blog, but Bennifer2 has begun. This time the Jen is Garner.
Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Seems as thought dear Larry Summers (MIT Class of 1975), President of that other school down the river, has done it again. Seems as though a speech he made earlier this fall regarding Native Americans had put people up in arms again. (I don't completely understand the context of his remarks, so I won't comment about their political correctness.) Seems his time at Harvard will be even shorter than it was going to be as of last week. Go Larry!
Good bye Anwar: Last night Anwar Robinson was voted off American Idol. I was rooting for him-- and not just because he has a great smile and dreds...he is an amazing singer. Oh well....perhaps some music ex saw him too and will give him his big break.
The Boss: As I am sure ALL of you know, the Boss (aka Bruce Springsteen) is releasing his next album next week. On Monday, he will be intereviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today Show, and then he kicks off their summer concert series on Tuesday. Woo woo!

A Fishtank Cake: Today was my assistant, Elena's, 30th birthday. It was a fish themed day, and I made this fish tank cake for her. (It was white cake on the bottom, and chocolate on top. Nerds were the gravel and gummy fish, swedish fish, and gummy whale/frog/ aligator also swam around.) Elena got a kick out of it, and it was fun for me too. Posted by Hello

A Baby! I met 2.5 week old Anna today. She is so adorable I couldn't stop looking at her in my arms. Lauren and Jed continue to be blissful (and so relaxed) and clearly are completley in love with their new addition. Eeek! Posted by Hello

Program Note: The QB of our Super Bowl Champ New England Patriots, Tom Brady, will be hosting Saturday Night Live tonight. This could be interesting...

Great T-Shirt: So, as of late, I have been trying to work on being less tense about planning and obsessive about being on time. (Please note, this is not an invitation for people in my life to help me with this.) However, planning a major Conference and organizing a trip with people from around the country, is perhaps not the best time to hold myself to too high of a standard. Nonetheless, at Curves yesterday, a woman had on the PERFECT t-shirt for me! It said "Don't tell me to relax! Stress is the only glue that is holding me togther." I laughed out loud when I saw it!

GO SOX! I am going to Em and Nat's tonight to watch the game via Tivo (the game is at 3 but we are watching at 7) They are giving our WORLD CHAMPION Red Sox their rings prior to the game. YEAH SOX!

Damn! Earthfest, one of my favorite ways to bring in the summer, is the same day as my Women's Conference! And the Walk for Hunger is the day after. I had really been hoping to do the 20 mile walk again this year but I am doubtful that be able to make it the full distance. I still may try to do as much as I can though.
More Daylight?...Bring It On: In an extention of Eva's discussion of Daylight Savings Time, I just read that Congress is considering EXTENDING DST by two months! Woo woo!

From Slumerville to Somerville: An encouraging (especially as a home owner) article in today's Globe about up-and-coming Somerville. Also interesting for my city planning and public administration friends.

Baby Anna: I got my first glipse of Anna (via email) today. I hope to meet her in the next week or so. So precious! Posted by Hello

Cranky Day: So, the glass half full side of things is that, as far as I know, everyone in my life is safe and fairly healthy. However, I am having trouble seeing that part of the glass today, as everything that could go wrong, has! What a crappy day... from the minute I walked into the office (30 minutes early) until 5:00 (now) when I had to run down the street because the car service didn't show up for the students I am sending down to Hartford. Truly, a miserable day! (I broke into my chocolate in my desk at 9:30 a.m....good thing there was no booze there.) And the too bad part, is that it was a BEAUTIFUL day...but I didn't get to enjoy it. Ok, whining done. But I accept all good vibes that you want to send my way for a relaxing evening and a good day tomorrow. Ok, off to do some more work so I can leave before I see none of the pretty day.

To Everything, Turn, Turn, Turn: As the world has been newly blessed by Anna being born, it seems like lot of people are dying too...Terry Schiavo, the Pope (well, still alive but I suspect not for long), Johnny Cochran, and Frank Perdue all have died or are dying in the last few days.
